A Lapland holiday without a rental car is possible, but the whole journey needs planning, including the last stretch to the house.
Start with Rovaniemi
Many guests arrive in Rovaniemi by air, for example via Helsinki, or by overnight train. A sleeper cabin lets you travel north while resting, without spending the journey at the wheel.
Continue towards Ranua
Regional buses connect Rovaniemi and Ranua. Other routes serve places such as Posio and Kemijärvi. Timetables differ by route and season, so check the connections for your actual travel date.
A bus to Ranua does not take you all the way to our secluded house. Arrange the last leg in advance. At Mökki Tikka, a transfer can be discussed with us beforehand; it is not something to assume will be available on arrival.
Less driving, more planning
Travelling as a passenger means you do not have to handle snowy roads yourself. You can watch the landscape instead. In return, think ahead about getting groceries, going on excursions and returning to the airport or station.
Allow enough time between connections and aim to arrive during daylight if practical. Send us your travel dates if you need help working out a route.
